Backflow Prevention Device

  • Clean water is important to everyone.  One cross-connection can compromise the quality of water.  A cross-connection occurs when potable water meets with the outside environment.  Any bathtub, sink, washer, dishwasher, toilet or garden hose is a potential cross-connection.
  • A backflow device must be installed after the meter (see below for approved devices)
  • All backflow devices are mechanical and will eventually fail.  Testing is crucial to ensure the safety of the public water system.  Each device should be tested annually.

Colorado State regulations require your backflow devices be tested each year.  If you are not sure when your device was last tested, please call the District office at (970) 923-2056.  More information about selecting a Certified Backflow Technician is available at http://bpecc.org/documents/criteria.pdf
