Gallons of water use per person indoors and average irrigation used outdoors each day by a Snowmass Village single family residence:

  • 1/2 gallon used for drinking by one person each day.
  • 10 gallons is used by toilets
  • 25 gallons is used by all other faucets, showers, and appliances (approx)

95% of indoor water use is treated and returns to streams






Of the 700 gallons used in outdoor irrigation, only 20% of it returns to streams. The other 80% is "lost" due to evaporation and plant use.
